Intelligent Multi-lane Merging Control System in Chongqing

As a typical mountainous city, the terrain of Chongqing is complex.There are many bridges and tunnels. A large number of vehicles merge into the trunk roads. In this way many places where the ramps and trunk roads converge together are formed. Several roads merge into one main road. Because the entrance lanes are more than the exit lanes, the exit is easy to saturate. The distance of changing a lane at the exit is short.This will easily cause interweaving.When the vehicle flow is large, traffic congestion is easily caused.With the addition of vehicle interweaving, the passage efficiency is very low and accidents are easy to happen.     

       

Solution

Install traffic lights in different entrance lanes, control the traffic in every lane and match the lane quantity of releasing according to the exit lane quantity and the congestion situation;   

Set exit detectors at the exits and set queuing detectors in every queuing direction according to demands;

Automatically adjust the releasing plan of multi-lane merging into the intersections according to the congestion situation and control the vehicle flow of exits;

Confirm the releasing green signal rate of every direction and control the queuing length of every direction according to the queuing detection;
