Application of mathematics is affecting our life profoundly. Built relying on Chongqing Normal University, Chongqing National Center of Applied Mathematics promoted a lot of big data intelligence achievements to be applied in recent years through solving key mathematical problems.
The Sheraton intersection which is often full of traffic jams is becoming unblocked recently. The traffic lights don’t work in fixed time like how they did before, but in an automatic adjustable method according to actual situations. For example, when the left-turn lane is jammed while the straight lane is unoccupied, the intelligent signal system will lengthen green traffic light time of left-turn lane and shorten the green light time of straight lane.
Xu Sheng the CTO of Chongqing Ulit Science & Technology Co.,Ltd tells us” We bring in AI Machine Learning Algorithm to analyse the real-time traffic flow situations at the intersection and timely adjust the traffic lights of the intersection. The fastest response speed can achieve seconds.”
With the smart traffic signal system, the passage efficiency of Sheraton intersection during evening peak is enhanced by 30%. This system is just researched and developed by Chongqing National Center of Applied Mathematics and a company.
Dai Gao the general manager and senior engineer of Chongqing Ulit Science & Technology Co.,Ltd says “ Chongqing National Center of Applied Mathematics is much skilled in these items including operations research, optimization theory and game theory, which can deeply improve intelligence degree of our products.”
Yang Xinming the manager of Chongqing National Center of Applied Mathematics says “we should pay attention to combining the theory and the practice to solve the troublesome problems between companies.”
Chongqing National Center of Applied Mathematics is the first national mathematics center of Chongqing. It not only builds a platform for mathematicians and entrepreneurs, but also undertakes major projects of our country. AI method of optimization problem was selected in Major Projects of the National Strategic Fund last year.
"Next we hope we can make our due contributions in terms of intersections of mathematics and informatics, mathematics and intelligent traffic, mathematics and high-end manufacturing, mathematics and bioinformatics." says Yan Xinming the manager of Chongqing National Center of Applied Mathematics.
